Hour of Code

Just take an hour, and code! I love to build coding into my classroom when ever possible. Coding skills help with so many other content areas and it’s fun! The activities that students have access to now, are far beyond what the first coders were give to solve. They are fun, engaging and they don’t even realize how much they are learning!

Hour of Code

The Hour of Code focus happens each year in December but you can access all of the activities all year round! The activities and lessons that are available are for all ages. They are easily organized by k-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. They also are can be sorted by type of coding from block to java and beyond! You can start kids at any level and there will be activities for them to learn to code.

Many students tell me that they can’t believe that I am letting them play games and then we discuss all of the skills that they are learning while doing an activity. Also, when they get frustrated as the levels get harder, I remind them how “fun” the first levels were. 😉

Play around with some code this week! From Harry Potter to Barbie, Hour of Code has it all!
