Tools for Teaching Science to Elementary Students

It’s Science time again! On this episode, we have some awesome tools to support K-5 classrooms! There are so many cool ideas packed in these websites. The two sites we chat about this week are great resources and can actually be used with older students as well. Let’s explore!

Science With Me

ScienceWithMe.com is a fun, easy-to-use, but jam-packed science website. The site features collections of information on all sorts of science topics, including astronomy, animals, chemistry, and many more. The collections feature things like songs, sing-alongs, and videos. Each set of materials also has printable coloring pages that accompany the story. The “Learn About” section is organized by each science topic, which makes it easy for students to find what they’re looking for.

The site is great for teaching science to young students. Older students will also find ScienceWithMe.com very useful when doing inquiry and research projects.

Ducksters

Ducksters is another fantastic site for teaching students about science. And while I’ve listed this on a science episode, it actually has so much more than science resources. On Ducksters, students can find information on history, art, literature, and so much more. Students can use Ducksters to research a multitude of topics from biology to Abraham Lincoln. The site is easy to search, the research is laid out in a way that makes it easy, and each topic is full of facts. The information is very well organized, and some pages even link to additional activities.

Duckers is a great go-to information site for students who are beyond elementary grades, as well. It even offers MLA- and APA-formatted citations at the bottom of each page.

So take a minute and check out these easy to navigate resource sites for your students! There are so many quick ways to build these sites into your lessons.

Enjoy your week!
