Hi teachers! Episode 216 of the Tech Tools for Teachers Podcast is all about fun ways for your students to review content while giving back. This week, we’re highlighting two engaging tools: BeanBeanBean and Free Rice.
BeanBeanBean
BeanBeanBean.com is a quirky, educational review site where students can practice everything from math and language to geography and science. Each correct answer earns “beans,” which translate into food donations through various U.S. charities like Feeding America, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and local food banks.
What makes BeanBeanBean fun is the variety of topics. Students can:
- Practice multiplication, division, addition, or subtraction.
- Review English, Spanish, French vocabulary, and even ASL alphabet.
- Brush up on U.S. states, capitals, and world capitals.
- Study science topics like the periodic table and cell structure.
It’s a great choice board option, a fun station, or even a quick competition—”Which team can earn the most beans in 3 minutes?” It’s simple, student-friendly, and supports a good cause.
Free Rice

We also revisited FreeRice.com, which we first talked about way back in Episode 39. Free Rice has expanded significantly since then! For every correct answer, rice is donated through the UN World Food Programme, supporting global hunger relief efforts.
Free Rice now offers a huge list of categories:
- ELA: vocabulary, spelling, grammar, root words.
- Art & Culture: paintings, literature, pop music, movies, philosophy.
- History & Geography: world religions, ancient history, world capitals, flags, and more.
- STEM: biology, chemistry, physics, math, and anatomy.
- Languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and more.
With options to set difficulty levels, create groups, and track leaderboards, Free Rice is perfect for individual play or classroom challenges.
Both of these tools combine learning with impact. Students sharpen their skills while supporting food donations locally and globally. Beans and rice never looked so good in the classroom!
Go educate and innovate!
