Virtual Vacations

Summer Vacation Time! We are at that halfway point in the summer where I like to check in and throw a few fun sites out for you to enjoy or you can add them to your resources for next school year. I thought it would be fun to share some ways to take a virtual vacation! I know it is a little easier to be out and about this summer but we don’t have 80 days to make it around the world. Instead, I thought we could check out some National Parks and an amusement park! So buckle up an enjoy!
The Hidden Worlds of the National Parks
Our first site comes from Google Arts and Culture – The Hidden Worlds of the National Parks. This is a fantastic way to explore National Parks. The site provides background videos, beautiful 360˚ views and you can explore all kinds of parks from the comfort of your home. What is really neat is that they have park ranger videos where they explain their favorite parts of the park and teach you about the highlights. The pages are interactive and as you click, the parts are explained to you. This site is an awesome way to explore, learn and plan your next trip!
NSU Virtual STEM for Kids—Roller Coasters
Next up, we are heading to the amusement park! NSU Florida has a great collection of resources that teaches you all about roller coasters! There are videos, hands on activities, marble maze directions, books and templates to get you all set. These activities would be really fun to use before you head off to an amusement park or fair this summer or a great resource for physics and STEM concepts next school year. Speaking of STEM, this site also has links to all kinds of resources for STEM concepts that you can use in your classroom. When you are back in school mode, feel free to check them out!
